The Fantastic Four Is Bringing John Malkovich Into the MCU
Legendary actor John Malkovich is making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)! He has just secured a role in The Fantastic Four, which will mark his MCU debut1. As of now, the actor’s role has not yet been revealed, leaving fans to speculate whether he’ll be playing a hero or a villain. His casting follows the recent addition of Paul Walter Hauser, who has also boarded the film in a mystery role.
John Malkovich is a two-time Oscar nominee and has long been celebrated for his work in film. He earned his Academy Award nominations for “Places in the Heart” and “In the Line of Fire”. Additionally, he won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the limited series adaptation of “Death of a Salesman”. Some of his other memorable roles include “Of Mice and Men”, “Being John Malkovich”, “Jonah Hex”, and “Fool’s Paradise”. Recently, he appeared in the Netflix series “Ripley”, and he’ll be seen in upcoming films like “Hand of Dante”, “Opus”, and "The Yellow Tie"2.
Interestingly, John Malkovich almost got involved with a movie featuring Marvel characters before. Director Sam Raimi had considered casting him as Vulture in Spider-Man 4, a film that unfortunately never got made. Raimi praised Malkovich’s powerful acting abilities, stating that he could evoke fear and concern for Peter Parker. While that opportunity didn’t materialize, it seems the MCU has now welcomed him into its fold with open arms2.
